Lauren Elizabeth Therapy

Experienced Berkshire based Gestalt Counsellor

Hello, my name is Lauren.

Firstly, welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my website. Whatever your reason for seeking support, I hope you find what you are looking for.

I am a qualified counsellor who is passionate about supporting individuals to gain greater self-awareness and live more meaningful lives.  I invite you to come and explore your thoughts and feelings in a confidential, non judgemental, safe space.

If you are currently finding things hard, whether this be a recent event or experiences from the past, you are not alone. This is where support through counselling can help.  Confronting your feelings is challenging but it can also be a very rewarding journey.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss working together.

How can I help?

In life we will all face challenges and there will be times when we feel overwhelmed or stuck.  Trying to understand and manage difficult thoughts and feelings can be exhausting and leave us feeling alone.  This can end up having an impact on our day to day lives and affect our relationships with others, leaving us with a lot of questions.

If your emotions or events in your life are confusing and overwhelming then talking about them in a safe space can be the first step towards change and healing.  Sharing thoughts and anxieties can make them more manageable. Whatever your difficulty may be, talking to someone who’s trained to listen and to offer non judgemental and empathic support can be helpful towards personal development and acceptance of yourself and the world around you.

Counselling doesn’t always feel good and requires patience and commitment to explore and change long standing patterns of behaviour.  You will be talking about experiences and feelings that are often painful and challenging to share. I respect and appreciate how hard this can be.

My hope through our work together is to support you in better understanding yourself whilst becoming more self aware about patterns of behaviour that may be restricting your happiness.
This can allow you to come to a place of healing, where you are able to make clearer choices that improve your well-being.

About me

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of BACP.  I work with individuals, supporting them in a variety of areas to better understand themselves and improve their well-being.

My personal experience of counselling and the difference it makes to my own life led me to work as a counsellor.  I also have experience working within the charity sector, supporting older people and their families and the NHS, supporting adults within a general practice setting.

How I work…

I take a warm, empathic and open minded approach to my therapeutic work.  I aim to build a trusting relationship through our work together whilst creating a confidential space where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and feelings.

As a Gestalt trained counsellor, I support people who are interested in developing self-awareness and wanting a better understanding of themselves and how they relate to others.  Some of the areas I work with people on include; anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, families, abuse, work problems, anger, confidence, bereavement, trauma, loss and grief. I am also interested in working with people going through pre and post natal experiences.

Gestalt means “whole” and I work in a holistic way to help people become more aware of their own body, mind and behaviours.  I believe personal growth and change happen through experiencing your thoughts and feelings and becoming aware of what is happening in the present moment.  By building self-awareness, Gestalt Therapy can support people to take more responsibility for themselves, to increase self confidence and to help them make clearer choices and changes to improve their well-being.

I believe our emotional and physical selves are connected and take a particular interest in the person as a whole.

Counselling Session

Counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are scheduled at the same time each week.  This time is yours to talk about what you want to in a confidential and non judgemental environment.

I offer weekly support to individuals 18+, this can be online or face to face.  This support can be either short-term therapy (12 weeks), which usually requires more structure for specific issues, or longer-term therapy, which enables clients to explore deeper and go at their own pace.

In sessions I might invite you to use a range of creative ways to express your thoughts and feelings, when at times they are difficult to put into words.

On receiving your enquiry I will contact you for an initial telephone conversation prior to meeting to discuss your needs and make arrangements for a consultation. The number of sessions is decided by us together and can be re-evaluated if you feel your needs have changed.

Fees:

Each individual 50-minute session costs £70
